  4. PH is Public House or local or inn

  5. Per this website, track = "y" it seems...

    This anno applies to 10D also, seemingly.

  6. It's PH AR (artist) OH. AR, not A, gives artist.
    I am confused. From where do we get A?
    Can someone suggest a perfect anno (if there is one)?

  7. Also for 23D:

    PT = Stop
    Y = Track
    HO = House
    N = Point

    I didn't come up with this, but went back to the same website:

    Apparently NJ uses these abbreviations to break every word down into the smallest bits...

  8. Ah! That loooong list of crossword abbreviations?
    I came across this years ago and had almost forgotten about it.
    The other day Vinod Raman was asking about it and I am not sure if I managed to fish it out and let him know about it.
    Even if I had, I don't think he would have used many of the abbreviations noted here for his clues in clue-writing competitions where UK crossword setters praise his work. I doubt if they are standard abbreviations.
