  1. 18D. There is a river called Sure somewhere in Europe. You can google it
1D B is a size of paper. Maybe that is like seven for time.
Colonel you won yesterday's contest on seven

  2. Deepak,
May I attempt to provide notes for
At home, sign mostly on a church bill (7)

    At home, - IN
    sign - V
    mostly on - o (ignoring n)
    a - one - 1 - I
    church - CE
    bill - def

The surface reading? Upto 'church' it makes sense but later it fades out.

  3. If O is derived from ON by ignoring half of it, it's not 'mostly on'

  4. Thanks Chaturvasi for annotating the INVOICE!!
    Suresh,
Did find a SURE river. Yes, my wild guess of SEVEN yesterday was on the mark. The paper size is B-series, like B0, B1, B2 etc and not just B, anyway there is no point trying to tear one's hair out on NJ's clues

  5. Was about to post a comment on 20 down (INVOICE), as I had put it in as a wild guess. And, VOI-LA, there was CV ready with the explanation.

24 across - I confidently went by the original and authentic spelling 'Quran' and got stuck on the horns of the bovine. With a 'u' thrown in, I was banking on something ike 'stouthorn' but it was not found in the dictionary. Holy Cow !

  6. On the day of the tsunami, I was visiting a friend's home in the Bay area in California, when the Sun TV was giving news about the catastrophe.
On the day of Rajiv Gandhi's death, I woke up in a hotel room in Hoganekkal and on coming out and watching the inactivity I got the news from a young boy.
On the day his mother died, I was at a school to pick up my child when a bunch of young mothers who had come there on a smiliar errand broke the news to me.
