  1. I once wrote on my birthday:

Har din hai ek kadam kabr ki aur...

Though that applies to us humans, it does not apply to blogs. Wishing all the best to Deepak and the blog, which has indeed been a learning experience. May it carry on...

  2. Non-union man is BACHELOR.

OK, suggest a word for a 'union' man.

    2. Oh you wanted one word: Serf ;-)

    3. That evokes images of W O T.

    4. Even when the serf loses, he can always say 'Serf Excel Hai Na?'...

  3. 17 - Rants from Buzzer's old wife, silly at first (7) - BELLOWS {BELL}{O}{W}{S}

A little bird tells me Buzzer's wife is enquiring about the connotation of 'old' in this clue. Is it aged or previous? Either way Buzzer is in trouble. Bread and water for the next few days ;-)

    Ole turkey Buzzard !

    1. Kishore,
We have a term in Tamil-"thanni kattaradhu" (literal translation 'showing water'), but figurative meaning is teasing ( CV to correct me if I am wrong)So Buzzer may have only water.

    2. No worry there, Paddy. He is being well nourished with Chow-mien and what not, only the famous Indo-Chinese Gobi Manchurian may not be on the menu.

  4. Congrats Col on your noble thought of putting up this blog this day 3 years back.

Wishing the Sloggers and Bloggers many more years of happy interaction here.

As Kishore had commented, it has been an excellent learning experience for all of us-not only on words and phrases but also on nuances of life in all aspects.

Thank you Deepak for bringing it to us.

    1. Hi everyone. Me too here. I was among some of the earliest ones to have joined the crowd here. But lately, I have not been able to participate in the day-to-day discussion. Thanks, Deepak, for the great forum you have provided us with for brain-racking, and the camaraderie it has created. Thanks everyone.

    1. I am afraid it can't be stated publicly here. Perhaps Kishore will send you a private email.

Actually I meant 'underpin' to be read as 'under [the] pin', where 'pin' is that handy kitchen implement, the rolling-pin.

    2. Perfectly correct, CV. I am sure Suresh will get the reference to the pin after reading my mail about WOT.

  14. Mention of rolling pin brings to mind the Jiggs comic where he manages to get under the 'pin' eternally!

Sir, I had gained lot of confidence in attempting the crosswords through your blog.
Without your blog I would'not have shown interest in attempting the crossword at all.

    Thanking you once again,
    Yours faithfully
