Good try as it is a variation from the hackneyed BIKIN' I wordplay. But I = ME may not be acceptable by some crossword editors.

    1. The 'pickle' here should not be mistaken to be the 'eatable' pickle. A Hot-Potato is a situation difficult to handle (like a hot potato), hence the usage of pickle in the clue. A friend of mine asked me if hot potatoes are served as pickle upon looking at the clue, hence the clarification. :)

  18. We have heard of dropping things like a 'hot potato'. 'Hot potato' has also been used as a synonym for danger, cause celebre, hazard or imperilment. However, we have never heard of hot potato being a pickle! Please enlighten us.
