  1. Thanks, Deepak, for taking over. Folks, my back has been bothering me for some time and more so over the last month. I have been asked to lose weight (easier said than done) and to do some exercises etc before breakfast. This has dished my chances of solving in the morning in time for the 8.30 deadline. Hence, I have decided to take a break till July, by when I hope to be better (and lighter, haha!). Sorry again, folks.

    1. I am sure some of you will volunteer to blog on a few days, so that Deepak does not have to blog the entire week, though I am sure he is as enthusiastic as ever to do it.

    1. Is S a standard abbreviation for school?

    2. I've seen Exchequer and some others use it. I have only Chambers and crosswordunclued to refer to. So my database is limited.

    3. I believe that even if some abbreviations are not in any dictionary, we can accept them if they are widely used.
For example, I studied in GBHS, which stood for Gopalapuram Boys' High School. HS or SSS are found in abbrs. nowadays.
So why can't we accept S for School?

    4. I have no problem. Sometime back there was T for 'town'. That's not a std abbreviation. Maybe it's seen in some other list.

    6. Oh really? Both my sisters and cousins did! We are old-time residents of Gopalapuram. My grandfather's one-storeyed building, set in a large ground with some five or six mango trees and "paththu pathinonnu thennai maram pakkaththilae", was one of the earliest houses. I have heard my elders speak of a time when Conran Smith Road from Lloyds Road stopped short and never connected Peters Road.
People recall that In the Fifties the Kanchi Maha Periyava when he was visiting Madras stayed in our house and used to address gatherings from a podium while the audience sat in a pandal, both specially constructed.

  5. Kishore,
Take care and get well. I think Col.'s suggestion of a yoga class looks good. But it must be done under proper care and guidance to get best results.

  10. KISHORE: Pole saana !! Get well soon.
Advice Unsolicited: Try locking your fingers at the back , keeping your spine straight and breath in, while slowly bending down, and slowly rise up to homo erectus position, breathing out, A few times should relieve the pain. I have tried this after warming up with a few lumbering up exercises.

Advice unsolicited 2: Ignore this and other such advices from me and others and go by your gut feeling and do what's best for you , as per the doctors orders !!
    Take care and God bless.

Today's Xchequer is a superb and atypical cryptic crossie. Thanks to THCC online. Why is it not regularly being posted? it is such a useful channel to solve !

Keep up the spirits ye-all !!
