    2. Vasant, escapee is a BOLTER containing MB and SHE. Ramki's anno is slightly off.

    3. Sorry for the typo - escapee is BOLTER and not BELTER

    1. I think 21A needs to be rechecked as the crossing with 13 D doesnt match

    2. Yes, Vasant. THIAMINS is not the correct answer.

    3. HISTAMIN*? I thought it was spelled Histamine. This answer goes with 22D and 13D.

      Delete
    4. HISTAMIN is a variant spelling of HISTAMINE according to Dictionary.com

      Delete
    5. Interestingly, although the OED does not list HISTAMIN as an alternative spelling, the very first quotation it gives (from 1912) uses the shorter spelling twice, so one can say the OED accepts it by default.

      Delete
    6. But Histamine is neither in Chambers nor in Free Dic.

      Delete
    7. This is quite extraordinary. A search of the Google Books corpus shows over 1100 books using only the spelling without a final 'e', although the number using it has diminished in the last two decades. Why it does not appear as an alternative spelling in the main dictionaries is puzzling.

Example: Fundamentals of Aerospace Medicine, Jefferry R. Davis M.D, 2007, page 60. ... local mediators (histamin, serotonin, TXA2, ... .

      Delete
    8. Hmmm... Thanks for the research Bud. I must admit I was a bit hesitant about using it since all textbooks I have read used HISTAMINE. It was only after being suggested by a wordsearch website that I used it and was also found in Dictionary.com

    1. Vehicle ~ ride both nouns in this case. A car or a vehicle is often referred to as a ride

    2. I tried to see whether vehicle = ride in dics but could not find

      Delete
    3. From the TFD: n. A means of transportation: waiting for her ride to come.
Also, quite commonly used colloquially - e.g. like the MTV show "Pimp my ride"

    4. Chambers makes this very clear: a journey on horseback, on a bicycle, or in a vehicle; the animal, vehicle, etc. providing this.
