  1. @Ramesh: Did you get your paper at 5:30? :P

    1. No. But Col. had typed in the clues by that time & Richard also sent me the scanned copy of the CW. So managed to get it done.
I had hit publish before scheduling it, hence you saw the solution appear for a few minutes & then disappear and reappear again at 8:30

  2. 22A -Clergyman=RD?

I guess RD is short for Reverend.

    1. Thanks for the scanned copy of the CW. Guessed it was from Reverend, but could not find it in the usual places. Hence the question

    2. Just noticed that you mentioned it in your reference list.

    3. The usual abbreviations for Reverend are Rev., Revd and Rev'd. [Wikipedia]

    4. In Anglican Church, Deans and Priors are usually styled as The Very Reverend, Abbots and Bishops as The Right Reverend, and Archbishops and primates as The Most Reverend.

    5. RD for Rural Dean is found in Chambers. So there's no problem.

      Where's R for road from, in 1 a?

    4. Not contrasting, but complimentary. I have used 'too' so I am not precluding enjoyment before dark ... As long as AfterDark is a part of it ...

    5. Raghu's comment @ 11:08 reminds me of a quote :

"Two souls with but a single thought, Two hearts that beat as one".

  11. A spicy brain teasing puzzle! Got all but found wanting in parsing a couple of clues like 1ac TEMPERATURE & 8dn SEEN etc. Enjoyed though solving it. Thank you AD. :-)))

    2. Caught unaware(s) by a 'chasing' DOG today! Most of the time it was a DOG 'tailing' me, as far as solving CW is concerned!!

      Delete
    3. Mostly I used to remember Dog = Cur(N) & Tail(V). Today it turned out to be Dog = Chase(V) in 22ac anno {PUb}{R{CHASE}D}

      Always learning something new!

  17. "Come Saturday Morning" - the blog explodes into multitude of colours. It's colours galore today, twelve in all chosen by Ramesh under Color/Font Scheme to highlight various CW indicators! Hats off to him for his patience and enthusiam in trying to help/guide not only beginners but also average solvers like me. Superb blogging. Keep up the good work, Ramesh. :)

Dr Srinivasan. Happy birthday on 12th that went by. May many more 2th Junes come your way > God bless you.

Since I'm in a time warp , can I be permitted to and pardoned as a late latif ? But the leit motif of the day is not still lost !!!

  21. Shrikant: In crosswords you are an expert in deletions and additions. On your wedding silver jubilee , may you and your better half both resolve to delete each other's faults and add each other's good values and solve life's mysteries ahead. God bless you both ! These are my sincere thoughts after solving today's crossie.: delete and add and solve ! I enjoyed it thoroughly .
