  4. I hope you'll will excuse me for this off topic post

    DEAR PEOPLE OF INDIA,

    WE ARE SOLDIERs.

    1. WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE TO YOU AND TO NO ONE ELSE BECAUSE :

    (a) WE HAVE PLEDGED TO PROTECT YOU, AND WE LIKE TO KEEP OUR WORD !

    (b) WE ARE SURE THAT YOU LOVE US.

    PLEASE KNOW THESE FACTS.

    2. THE GOVT IS DENYING YOUR SOLDIERS OROP UNDER THE PLEA OF FINANCIAL SCARCITY . THE FOLLOWING WILL TELL YOU THEIR SCARCITY :

    (a) OROP ALREADY EXISTS FOR 100% OF THE BUREAUCRATS, JUDICIARY AND ALL THE PARLIAMENTARIANS.

(b). OUR PENSION WAS BROUGHT DOWN FROM 70% to 50 %WHILE THEIRS WAS RAISED FROM 30% TO 50% IN THE 3rd CPC . WE DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THE GOVT SAVED BY THIS.

(c). IN THE 6th CPC THEY DOLED OUT NFU - A SYSTEM BY WHICH ALL GROUP A SERVICES WOULD RETIRE AT THE HIGHEST PAY SCALE -THEREBY GIVING THEM HIGHEST PENSION PLUS OROP. THEY LEFT FORCES OUT OF IT.

(d). THEY GAVE THEMSELVES ACP - ASSURED CAREER PROGRESSION - BUT AGAIN LEFT FORCES OUT OF IT . BY DOING THIS AND ALL THE ABOVE THEY BROUGHT US DOWN SEVERELY AND HAVE MADE THE FORCES LEAST LUCRATIVE AND LEAST HONOURABLE JOB.

ENEMIES ARE HAPPY AND WATCHING THIS GREAT DRAMA WITH GLEE !.

    (e) THEY CAN SPEND "DONATE" $ 1 MILLION TO MONGOLIA, DONATE 1.25 LAC CRORE TO A STATE VOTEBANK, LET SCAMS OF LACS OF CRORE IN GOVT , IPL AND BCCI, BUT FEEL '' POOR '' WHEN IT COMES TO ALLOCATE Rs. 8,300 crores FOR THE BRAVE ARMED FORCES WHO HAVE BEEN " FORCED " TO RETIRE YOUNG SO THAT THE NATION CAN SLEEP EASY.

    4. ITS NOT JUST MODI ' S PROMISE BUT A 4 DECADE OLD PROMISE , AN APPROVED PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ( KOSHIARY ) REPORT , A FAVOURABLE SC JUDGMENT ( Maj Gen Vains ) and AN APPROVED THING BY PREVIOUS GOVT.

    5. WE CANNOT REMAIN INSULATED MUCH THAT WE MAY TRY IF WE SEE OUR SENIORS AND WIDOWS IGNORED AND OUR STATUS AND PARITY vis-a- vis OTHER GOVT SERVANTS, DISTORTED.

    6. GOD FORBID IF ONE OF YOUR OWN SON or DAUGHTER or RELATIVE IS IN THE FORCES ~~ WOULD YOU STILL FEEL THE SAME ?? WILL YOU SEND YOUR NEXT GENERATION TO THE ARMED FORCES NOW ??

    7. WE ARE BARRED FROM STRIKES , PROTESTS, UNIONS ETC -FOR REASONS OF DISCIPLINE , BUT REST OF THE COUNTRY CAN GET WHAT THEY WANT ANY TIME BY RESORTING TO RIOTING, RAIL-ROKO etc !

    8. HAVE WE EVER FAILED YOU IN PEACE, WAR OR TERRORISM, RIOTS, FLOODS, EARTHQUAKE ?? JUST LAST WEEK, EVEN THE SMALL SCALE RIOTS IN GUJARAT COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED BY THE POLICE OR THE PARA MIL FORCES ( !! ) AND THE ARMY DID THE JOB !!

CAN THIS LAME NATION SURVIVE WITHOUT THE ARMY & THE ARMED FORCES ?? DO THEY REALLY " DESERVE" A SINCERE , LOYAL, AND ABOVE ALL, A "YOUNG" ARMED FORCE ?? THEN WHY ARE YOU SO APATHETIC ??

REMEMBER SALARY MAKES US DO OUR JOB BUT ITS HONOUR AND RECOGNITION THAT IMPELS US TO EMBRACE DEATH WILLINGLY WHILE EXECUTING OUR JOB.

    1. I may sound harsh in my observation. In the long run, India may have to pay a heavy price if it does not take care of its men in uniform and ex-Servicemen and women.

    2. Rs. 8300 Crores may not even match a week's underhand dealings and corruption by the babudom. I am sure the armed forces atleast deserve this.

    3. I agree that your demands are not to be disputed. But I have a question. My son in law is in IAF as wing commander. Rs.8,300 crore is not a matter. The government feels that if they agree to your demands, will it not follow suit in various categories? What would be the financial implications then?

  5. As the son of one who was in RIAF/IAF, as the brother-in-law of a Rear Admiral (since demised) and as the cousin of two young army/air force officers who lost their lives during India-Pakistan/China war, I sympathise with the ex-servicemen.

  7. Col.

No need for any excuse etc. since it is very relevant. Thank you for the very precise statement about the issue. I have been thinking about asking you to explain, but a little hesitant. They write so much about the extraneous issues that the main points gets lost. Thank you again.
