  11. Randomly taking four :: no prob if any are the same as from above :: won't try to compensate

29a Gathering crop for he's almost starving, wretchedly (10) HARVESTING :: anag :: For anag equivalence what letter is removed from 'starving'? S? When 'almost' x is used, it's usually the last letter or maybe last couple of letters are removed - not the first letter

    3. Here the setters mean 's is to be removed, but I feel that's not good cluing. Like removing the last s from a word in plural form.

  13. Oh, I see...
He's almost will give only h, after e is removed from he.
I am not sure if the 'ignore apo' will apply here, so we ignore s from he's.
Anyway, this is my view - others are entitled to their own views.

  14. This grid was to be attempted in teams of two or lesser. The upper limit was 1 hour, however, the first 8 teams to finish would make the finals. The fastest time of the day was (if I'm not mistaken) around 15 minutes by Mac and Ajeesh.

The competition is an annual event that is set by students of IITM and happens around April. If you liked the clues, do turn up next year. On our part, we will be sure to inform you about the dates (through this forum) sufficiently in advance so that you can plan your travel accordingly.

Being first time setters, your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Do drop me a mail with any bouquets or brickbats at shashwat1611@gmail.com

  25. The competition, this year, was held alongside Saahitya, IIT-M's lit fest, hence the heavy lit theme in the grid (sense & sensibility, pride & prejudice, magical realism, angels & demons, time machine, mousetrap, metamorphosis, raven, pearl (s buck) )
