  1. Easy solve, mainly because of absence of English writers, places and movies.
    Skivvies needed confirmation.

  2. Agree with you. (Still it had a different Sean Connery!)We are the regulars here after Col. Late today.

    1. Correct. But it would have been difficult without the Bond!

  3. Today's ICL 2016 was comparatively easier than the earlier ones with many anagrams and simple clues. There are a few RMDC types of words that can cause some chewing of the pencil and of course those unfamiliar peaceniks( like me!) with Star Wars ! managed to complete amidst a flurry of sirens so typical of the New York milieu added by the little girl on my shoulder whose banshee-like shrieks refusing to feed or sleep at 10 am.

Going back to last week's round, I had put in STIRRING for Shirring, being not much of an ovivore ! Nice to see one's name still continuing to be on the leaderboard. It is good to be a spectator when others ae racing for their positions and much more than that, gratifying to see so many participants in the Competition from all over India and elsewhere. Fortunately, except for a passing reference to India in today's puzzle , no Indian middle names !

How come no one is commenting in this forum ? Col has given a free hand .

    1. Sailing with you in stirring ICL! I was in a hurry that day to go out on an errand so had little patience to parse. The free hand is available on Saturdays when the solution is out. By then, interest dies down.

  4. While on a random surfing , I happenchanced into this site run by S. Parthasarathy of Bangalore, who essentially is a blogger for Economic Times , Bangalore crosswords, which is very informative and educative as it gives the clue type, parsing and the solutions with a convenient open grid for solving too. Is any one here aware of this? Have a dekko and give your comments .

I will now try the Sunday Hindu crossies for which there is no access other than the hard copy of the issue. Some relief for me to be uptodate with the Hindu !

    1. ET crossies are as old as me! I have noticed that the syndicated crosswords of last decade are run again now. I solved one two days back and I checked again. Alas! this came originally in 2005!

  5. This is a web based solver for crosswords developed by Mr.Hari Balakrishnan that lets you directly type and submit the answers. You click on a cell to highlight the word. If a cell is part of both across and down clues, when you click again, it toggles the highlighting. Play with it and send your feedback to puthirmayamgmailcom.

    1. my earlier question: who are the setters in ICL 2016, begs for an answer. is this why Incognito alias Kishore, our very own, is not a contestant?

    2. Raju, unfortunately, your messages are not seen by us due to time differences perhaps.
You may be right about the setter.
Regarding other setters, Col may be in a position to clairfy.
