  1. Full moon = O. If it were new moon, the outline may not be visible and you might not see it as O.

    1. I didn't look at the clue and anno from THAT angle. I was only basking in the light of the full moon.

    2. IO = moon
      Often used in crosswords. I have used it sometimes.

    3. CV Sir..Col has also given io=moon in his anno..his query was what was the anind of near which is given by Prasad(a2z_iima) as full

  2. Our friend Richard Lasardo sent me a link saying that may be of interest to Sloggers and Bloggers:
    http://phrontistery.info/longwords.html
    I visit it sometimes and it has some curious things for word lovers.

  3. I thought this was a technically perfect puzzle...almost nil obtrusive connectors..Scintillator striving for perfection & succeding..
    Got Scenario only because of crossing..

  4. 25A:Anind of NEAR* looks doubtful..looks like visible..if so then FULL is superfluous

    1. FULL -> CRAMMED ->ARRANGED

    2. Right Prasad..then visible is not required in cryptic meaning..perhaps required for surface

    2. Anagram of a synonym. Does that make it an indirect anagram & a no no?

    3. Thanks Ramesh. It's Stutter drinking R. St(r)utter

    1. Thank you. I thought so but didn't find this meaning in dictionary.com. Probably it is there in other dics.

    2. Its a pretty common slang..when we say you must be kidding..dont kid me

    3. For 'taunt' kid is given as a synonym. Pretty common, as Vasant says. But we tend to take kid as a noun.

  10. 8Dn : Cut short relaxation, that is, in lodges (7) RESIDES {RESt}{IDES}
    What is 'IDES' for pl?

  11. Thanks MB & Raghu. I too had that doubt.
    But cutting short one letter of a 2 part word and making it one is a bit jarring.

  12. 25A: 'Full' is anagrind, one of its meanings being 'drunk' (ref Chambers, and also common Indian slang, I guess?)

    The theme is of Zodiac signs, with one of them badly represented due to an oversight of mine.

  13. Thank you Scintillator.
    Ramesh was close enough to the theme.

  14. Yes, 'Full' is indeed a slang for being loaded. But, I think it is first time that it is being used as Anind. Once explained, it sounds logical enough.

  15. Bull (Taurus), Twin (Gemini), Leo, Virgo, Balance (Libra), Scorpio.
    That is 6 out of 12. Becomes 7 if Crab(by) is included.

    ReplyDelete
  16. RAMROD, CAPRICE and EWER being the other three. FISHINGS became DISHINGS as I was clueing, so maybe CAVIAR is okay as a substitute?

    ReplyDelete
  17. On a broader galactic spectrum, does ANDROMEDA qualify to be part of the theme?
