  1. 9 T-square use for instance (7,7) SURFACE TENSION {USE+FOR+INSTANCE}* T is on surface of Tension?

Is it OK for an across clue?

in 10D 'any' is part of def and not extra

    1. How can 'any conveyance' be motor vehicle? Only works if all forms of conveyance are motor vehicles

    2. I also think any is extraneous

    3. I would think Surface meaning beginning wouldnt matter if it is a down clue or across clue

  6. Is T symbol for surface tension? I tried googling- the symbol given there is a Greek word resembling T.

    1. Gamma is the symbol for surface tension. I was not sure if I had parsed the clue correctly, hence the '?' at the end of my parsing

  7. 2D-Is 'anger' a verb? I had a doubt, but on checking Free dic., it is given as a synonym for infuriate.

  8. Bhelpuri- a viable alt. for samosa and Ramesh has given an inviting image of it.

  9. Liked 6D. I was trying to figure out how 2D may be connected before it dawned on me. A nice and simple CD.

  10. So much talk about SURFACE TENSION today!

Here is one to relieve that 'Tension!'

What’s the difference between stress, tension and panic?

Stress is when wife is pregnant,

Tension is when girlfriend is pregnant, and

Panic is when both are pregnant.

  11. Thanks Ramesh for the meticulous blogging.

Just to clarify a couple of things

9A From my Chambers 12th edition:

    T
    symbol
    1. (as a medieval Roman numeral) 160
    2. Surface tension
    3. Tesla (SI unit)
    4. Tritium (chem)

10 D, I suppose it depends on which meaning of 'any' you are reading:

    any
    adjective and pronoun
    1. One (unspecified)
    2. Some
    3. Whichever, no matter which

    1. In Physics T is for temperature and Gamma is for surface tension. So I had doubted the T for surface in an across clue. Well as long as it is in Chambers it is valid.

10D. 'Any' as 'one' was also my interpretation.

    2. 'T' is for surface tension and 't' is for temperature in Chambers. In crosswords it doesn't make any difference, Buzzer's used both interpretations of T today.

    3. Thanks Bhavan. Fixed both
