  1. 7D. Sans= without, as my Vocab goes. However San means without is what the anno says. San is used more as a honorifics title. In japanese, for instance, tanaka san ..

  3. Without = sans
Hampered is the indicator to delete last letter to give SAN

  5. A few tough ones, a few good ones and a few 'Not fair' ones (eg Annie-16A) made it difficult for me. On the whole, a good CW.

But how do we get 'IGN'? D (IGN) I TAR Y
"Be involved" should lead to it, but I can't understand how.

  10. Since no one has given the anno for 6D, I am giving the intended anno below.
    home project = DIY
    sailor = RATING
about = rev ind, be involved in = insertion ind
    DI(RATING<<)Y = DIGNITARY = notable (noun)

    From Collins

    2. (in certain navies) a sailor who holds neither commissioned nor warrant rank; an ordinary seaman

  12. I found it tough today.
In 19 and 26 - Byzantine is anagrid?
In 27ac - how do u get Ex (iled is food store counter)
In 29ac - what is lines? (Ishow)* over L.
    24ac - quits is even?
IN 5ac - what is against?

    But I finished with crossings

  13. Thanks for the comments Gowri.
    Some explanations.
    1) In LOUD AND CLEAR, "byzantine" is the anagram indicator. Used in the sense of "devious"
    2) EXILED - "from" = "EX" (commercial usage e.g. "ex warehouse")
    3) OWLISH - "lines" is the insertion indicator for L (latin) to go inside ISHOW*
    4) EVOKE - Yes, "quits" = even. (e.g. "We are quits now")
    5) ADDS UP - "is against" is just a connector between A DD and SUP (the two parts of the charade)

    Hope this helps.
