+1
DeleteBut sp= special
Deletemy understanding abilities:skillset.
DeleteLacking
Special:first/chief
Range:set
S is also special
DeleteBut that leaves no indication of which s to remove.
DeleteThat is left to the solver's discretion
Delete16a anything out of human perception is considered black light.
ReplyDeleteBlack is technically not part of a spectrum- either IR or UV. It is considered as something that absorbs all light.
ReplyDeleteTough, but meticulously made and enjoyable. Needed lot of clarifications though.
ReplyDeleteSupper,Lamb chop, fork to be added to theme words.
ReplyDelete20A- 'Lending support' gives 'For'? Def. is branch? How do we select K from bank?
ReplyDeleteLifting 'ban' on bank=> Bank- ban=K?
ReplyDeleteRight as given by Bhavan
Deleteyes. Being an ex-employee of bank it took a long time to separate bank and branch. Last one to fall.
DeletePrasad:Ex employee of SAIL, Bank, what else? A lot of varied experiences
Deletelife has been a sine wave. Add Schlumberger and a bit of entrepreneurship and restlessly retired
DeleteAs long as you are on the +ve side of the sine wave, it is fine.
DeleteJack JOLLILY GOES OVER to the theatre and watches Sheridan's The School for SCANDAL.
ReplyDeleteHe then comes home has his LAMB CHOP for SUPPER(has to search every NOOK and corner to get the FORK).
Thereafter he had to go up the hill to fetch Jill from the Airport.
Happenings elsewhere come tumbling down his mind.
He thinks: The SYSTEM is to blamed. Management should WORRY AT the episode
and take steps to improve the SKILL SET of the staff. One should not be allowed
to GO ONES WAY. If they don't take corrective steps they will DRAW A BLANK and that would result in their WATERLOO....
He sees the bright HALOGENS of the airport. He has to move on...
Nicely done CGB.
ReplyDeleteHalogens at the airport- good thinking,
5d not OK conceding centre (-t)-> nook. My understanding.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteTough. Drew a blank at first pass except for tent, nook and draw a blank. Worked diligently and used lot of help to fill in the grid. Thanks to Col and all here for the annos.CGB's story nicely summarised the puzzle
ReplyDeleteMy position is similar. It took me more than an hour to crack fifty per cent of the puzzle.
DeleteI just took half an hour to call it quits!
DeleteMB😀😀
DeleteGood try!!
Deletetook liberal help from on-line red letters.
ReplyDeleteSame pinch Paddy
ReplyDeleteWe seem to get quite a few pinches these days!
ReplyDeleteYippee ! Managed to fill up the blanks in 40 minutes, with a lot of guesswork and then parse to find myself justified ! This is the kind of stuff for competitions !
ReplyDeleteKItchen utensils seem to be the theme? Used the DISHRAG to clean the SKILLET and then SIEVEd) the flour , mixed with the LAMB CHOP with a LADLE, placed on the COOKER . DREW A BLANK as to what to do next. Used the ICE BAG on the head to avoid getting PNEUMONIA. Sat in the NOOK and had my SUPPER, JOLLILY . Ain't I CUTESY ? If you don't like my recipe , UNFOLLOW ME and GO YOUR WAY !!
Ha Ha.
ReplyDeleteChuckle, chuckle-- ahem, am not comparable to yours. Isn't it nice to weave stories out of the answers ? After a brain wrack, release the tension using one's creative juices .
ReplyDeleteOnly persons full of creative juices like CGB and you can do that
DeleteImagination running riot !
DeleteI can add: I SKEWERed the LAMB CHOP with a FORK !
ReplyDeleteWho ate it?!
DeleteJack and Jill of course!!
