ReplyDelete12A: GENT = elegant?
13A: How is DE F = very good?
Nice crossie - liked PINNACLE, BROADCAST, OVERFED a lot. Thanks Vulcan!
13A Def (slang) means excellent, brilliant (from hip-hop culture), short for definitely/definitive
DeleteGent = Elegant is there in The Free Dictionary
DeleteThanks Doc and Col
DeleteQuestion: In the use of slang for indicating components in our wordplay, how far we setters can go? How many of our solvers today would have known today's slanguage without perhaps consulting a dictionary - urban, free or paid-for?
ReplyDeleteI for one didn't know DEF is very good. I suppose we have to move with the times
DeleteCV Sir personally, I feel use of slang should be kept to a minimum or at least restricted to what is standard usage. Having said that, the definition of what is standard may vary dramatically!
DeleteA doubt TH=That?(other doubts cleared above).
