Dr you have been commenting regularly so I don't think you qualify as a firs-time commenter.
DeleteMy idea is to get more new people to come in and comment.
Just checked Chambers New -> fresh, additional, supplementary. So More is fine
ReplyDeleteNEW has following synonyms in Chambers' Thesaurus;
Deleteadded, additional, another, further, extra, more, supplementary
MANUMIT, RAREE SHOW, AMERICIUM and MORELLO are all added to my vocabulary today
ReplyDeleteLovely puzzle. Couldnt anno Morello & Lord.Thanks AD.
ReplyDeleteToday March 14th (3/14) is celebrated as Pi day.
ReplyDeleteLoved the 3 worded clue for Triangle.
ReplyDeleteA mini theme with Welsh Corgi, Doberman,Ocelot? Are there any more connected words?
ReplyDeleteNo theme I think. While the first two are canines the last one is feline
DeleteCOMBE - I was reminded of Kombai - an Indian breed....
DeleteFor the third consecutive day today, 'men' has been used for 'OR' in the clues.
ReplyDeleteAFTERDARK's deletions , additions and alternations are 9 across like a conger eel, 8 down.
ReplyDeleteHOTSPUR is a favourite amongst punters . CELESTA - and another one like CELESTE shouldn't be confused with one another.
SPLINTS -- ailment of horse ? I have heard of shin-splints .
Sorry, I am solving the CW for more than 40 years. But I am new to comment in this page. Anyway, I will stop commenting in this page, hereafter!
ReplyDeleteIt is not that you should not participate- all of us do regularly. What Col. meant was that the particular clue was meant to be solved by first time commenters to encourage newer people to participate. You are welcome to comment about other clues and any doubts,errors reg. them etc. In Sunday specials each one is allowed to put in 3 answers and you may put in your solutions there.
DeleteDr Krishnamoorthy, you have misunderstood my remark. As Padmanabhan has said one clue a day is left till 10 AM for a person who has never commented here to solve. After 10 AM anyone is free to give out the answer if a new commenter has not solved it till that time.
