In your own interest please avoid looking up the answers from the interactive version. Don't hesitate to post your annotations, in case you make a mistake someone will correct it with the right annotation.
Each commenter is requested to post only 5 answers till 2 PM thereby giving others also a chance to participate. Please provide all your answers in one comment.
The regular blog will replace the clues at 2 PM after which anyone is free to comment.

Bhargav's Talepiece
The bouncer and the dancer - Part 63
It is but LOGICAL for one to ask what was happening on the other side of Shangri-la.
The NIGHTHAWKS were enjoying their RAVIOLI and the VAPOURINGS were about the day's happenings.
And the LARGE crowd. Whom did they OGLE?
MARGARITA ! ( New name given to Rita).
Rita enters the floor and removes her ROBE. Claps and whistles are heard after momentary silence.
She is dressed in a skimpy SKIN TIGHT ONE PIECE. There is that resinous LUSTRE from her OPAL AMULET. The fragrance from the French VOODOO perfume that she is wearing permeates around.
The band which UP TO THE MINUTE was getting prepared begin their first number. Marguerita (Elvis Presley).
The adventurous are taken care of by Clement in DRACULA costume who is adept in AIKIDO, Kung-fu et al. and put in their STEAD.
His orders are OBEYED and there is no TROUBLE. Only gentle (!) REFUSALS.
What happened next?
Trivia.
7A) Defn: monster
ReplyDeleteabruptly lure and kill a = DRA(-W), CUL(-L), A = DRACULA
Soln: DRACULA
5A) Defn: tree
anind = carefully
without learning sculpt = SCUPT
Soln: {(SCUPT)(A)(YULE)}* ; EUCALYPTUS
11A) Defn: Italian food
invigilator gave away good money = (invigilator)(-g)(-tin) = viilaor [ good-g; money-tin ]
anind = preparation
Soln: {VIILAOR}* ; RAVIOLI
15A) Defn: dashing
anind = circulations;
Asian = E; {(E)(HITMENPUTOUT)}*
Soln: UP TO THE MINUTE
16D) Defn: clothing

{(O)(N(E)(P)IECE)}
Soln: ONE PIECE
read 5A) as 5D)
DeleteNice solve with clear cut annotations.
Delete5d (sculpt+a+yule -l)*
DeleteThanks MB and Sree;
Deletestand corrected; understand it could be removal of L from yule also;
Prasad,
DeleteKarthikeyan has removed the L from SCULPT
I didn't say it was not correct col. Just put across the way I read the clue. Without learning was not so direct to sculpt as indicated.
DeleteNor did I say so. I only said he has removed L from SCULPT in his anno. L can be removed from SCULPT or YULE, both will be correct
Delete27a I have anxiety till someone answers. Rest is smooth

Delete8d aikido from ok I and aid
ReplyDelete18d allege legal and e of evidence
ReplyDeleteAnagram of LEGAL and E from evidence
DeleteNeeds confused me. I took 'Basic needs' as E (middle letter) and was wondering about evidence. Now it is clear. Basic for middle letter was my mistake.
Delete13A played p and resting place is where people are layed for the final rest
ReplyDeleteIt is incorrect. Please check again Brajesh

DeleteSujatha,
DeleteCheck for correct classification of 19AC

ReplyDelete20a: REFUSAL; thumbs down, anagram of "fancy fur"

26a: LOGICAL; makes sense (soldier = GI in bar = LOCAL)

21d: FALLOW; unchecked? (movement = FLOW, "captured" criminal = AL)
25d: ROBE; costume (engineer = RE "to invite" senior = OB old boy "inside")
