4a Hospital sections = WARDS + On = ONWARDS
5a I guessed the answer to GLISTER and reverse engineered the clue as G from good and LISTER from germ fighter Joseph LISTER. Not sure!.
6a Pure guess was THEME. No idea how the clue works!
8a Cut off and leaf holder = STEM
9a Bundle is wad and back = DAW. I found out (Google) that a knave in cards is JACK hence JACKDAW a crow ! Phew!

You can browse the net and understand the clue types. Anagram is just one of the clue types.
DeleteIn the solutions given in this blog after the clues you will find annotation of how the solution is arrived at and the clue types like DD (Double definition) is also provided.
The colour schemes used is indicated at the end of the solution which makes us clear about the parsing of the clues to arrive at the solution.

I encourage you to compare your answers (with annotations ) with that of what is given in this blogspot and many of them will be self-explanatory.
