ReplyDelete8d is long ->yearn or yearns!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sree
ReplyDeleteI also had doubt. Not clarifying yours. My typing on mobile phone took long than expected.
DeleteIt is disturbing to see that of late, basic mistakes like the one in 8dn.seem to be increasing
ReplyDelete+1 of late, yes.
Delete23d fine with ? , I took it as ALL OK? (A-OK). Good as anind.
ReplyDeleteCompiler's intention seems to be ASH OK A. A from good, prob. bec. A is a good grade.
ReplyDeleteIn the link given for 'good' I do not find good as a synonym for 'a'.
DeleteCopy paste from the link...
DeleteA
Symbol.
2. (sometimes l.c.) (in some grading systems) a grade or mark indicating excellence or superiority.
Probably this could be the one. Good = A
This is exactly what I wrote above - that A is good in certain grading practice.
DeleteMB but A-grade isnt just any good, its the best grade in that ranking systems. good will be B/C.
DeleteI have stopped identifying the themes and have left it for commenters to identify.
ReplyDeleteAnyone found the theme for today?
Probably Ramayana: Lanka, Banish, Messenger,Demon,Bridge, Squirrel, Golden Deer, Forest.
DeleteAshoka too
DeleteSuperb cracking Vasant, I like that
DeleteProbably messenger too
DeleteHe is very much there in Vasant's post. :)
DeleteYes, MB. I didn't see it.
DeleteWrt Comments by CGB, Vasant and Paddy yesterday re plugs/sockets.
ReplyDeleteI think you were talking bout the strip plugs.
It would have been useful if you had added some precautions.
For example, what devices (in wattage or voltage or whatever else) can I plug into a 'spike buster' that has say four sockets? Is there a limit? Suppose a strip has five sockets, can I use all of tem? If so, what calculations do I have to make to be on the safe side so equipments are ot destroyed?
The Spike busters of good quality have protection for overcurrent for each of the outlet. So it would be safe to use all. Problem is that there are too many of these of very poor make which have no overload protection.
DeleteIMU, Induction loads should always be in parallel mode. most spike busters have serial circuits with built-in fuse that melts. so on an average if 4 fans are connected , switching them on one by one is safer that switching them all at once. but I do have tendency to switch off main (plug of the strip than individual) so i do not connect mY laptop/pc, pRINTER, rOUTER to the same strip. and def not a FAN and laptop (even if these two only, since i stay in place where grid voltage in the building fluctuates) in same strip.
DeleteI get a fundamental doubt after reading this..How is a switchboard [with many switches for fans, lights] different from spike buster?
DeleteSpike busters have over voltage protection. They protect electronic eqpt(which are the most susceptible to surges) from ov & surges(spikes)
DeleteSpike busters are devices of convenience- which in turn are connected to a wall plug/ a plug in a switchboard with other outlets. These outlets are designed for certain loads, say 5A/ 15A in India. Spike buster apparently does not have a limitation and so it is our responsibility to take extra precaution. It is to be used only for low current applications like UPS of a desk top, charger of a laptop/ cell phone etc. available nearer to one's working table. No heavy current applications like a mixer/ grinder etc. should be connected to a spike buster- only wall plugs should be used.Wattage divided by 220/110 gives the current.
DeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteRama, banished and sent to the forest
was accompanied by his devoted wife Sita.
Maricha assuming the form of a golden deer helped Ravana kidnap Sita.
Hanuman, Rama's messenger crossed the sea and reached Lanka.
He was stopped by the demon Lankini who after an altercation allowed Him inside Lanka.
Hanuman roamed Lanka and recognized Sita sitting under an Ashoka tree and led her to Rama.
Little drops of water make a mighty ocean. The bridge to Lanka was built with the help of the monkeys but the squirrels too put in their might by moving small pebbles...
Thanks for all your comments & feedback. Apologies about 8d.
ReplyDeletePosting in advance about the NICEST CW by Kriskross.
ReplyDeleteI 'Quiver'ed at starting with a RENEGADE, but then I could take shelter in the ASHRAM at DELHI,though I was not able to meet the PRESIDENT (PRESENTly man without ID?) I was told that he is not a DICTATOR.
Was I GREEDy in wanting to finish? I would certainly wanted to USE LESS time, but the Spanish ESTATE gave me a bit of trouble and I had more to get REEFRES (non smoker, you see?)
Thank you Kriskross.
I was STRESSED and had to make some LAST DITCH efforts to locate the PALMIST (my COD)
Doing a CGB!? Good show Paddy. :)
