  7. Struggled in SW corner before good old Fanny Adams showed the way. I could get to the puzzle only now. While the two long ones gave a good starting point, the whole puzzle was a delight to solve.
    Thank you Arden.

  9. in 25A , what does 'stop' indicate ?

  10. ARDEN introducing new words to all. eg: PSALMODY , ESCAROLE . DELICATESSEN sounds very delicate, leading one to think that it sells only delicacies ! One finds lots of DELIs here in the US. DISCOVERED CHECK should be an eye 'opener 'for many chess players .

What;s the need for Dish in MANTRAP?

    1. DISH: A good-looking or attractive person of either sex
MANTRAP: A woman who takes a mischievous pleasure in attracting and acquiring men

    2. Thanks, KKR. I see the connection but then what type of clues these become ? I agree that a DISH is a feminist term for a good looking girl , thus commodifying the gender, MANTRAP is again, a patriarchal term not very complimentary to the gender--- terms that ME TOO activists may not approve ?
