ReplyDeleteSitting in the comfort of home and having seen all the clues before, I could complete this in 45 minutes. Imagine having to do this high quality puzzle and another equally high quality puzzle within 1 hour in competition!
ReplyDeleteVasant, what was the general reaction about 15AC? I felt there was typo here too. Of course, I didn't know the meaning though I filled it. On verification with dict. I noticed this.
DeleteClue wise there was hardly any discussion as most of the participants couldn't complete both the puzzle. Only last year's winner VS, could complete both. This year's champ Ramki had four unanswered from two puzzles. And of course we started solving the audience puzzle in the break.
DeleteThanks for the info, Vasant.
DeleteIn exams as well time is a BIG factor and sometimes strangely one gets the answer just after coming out!

ReplyDeleteCould it be BAD = VILE and then E goes on top pushing V to bottom?!
From top to bottom in VILE, would it not be ILEV?
DeleteSince the def itself part of wp, MB's thinking is also possible.
DeleteFurther, LIVE does not seem to have meaningful play here.
+1 MB
ReplyDeleteMy mistake the answer is EVIL which is bad even when the top goes to the bottom to become VILE
ReplyDeleteOk thank you Sir!
DeleteBut this is an across clue. We can't use top to bottom, can we?
DeleteIt could be last becomes first or last travels extreme East or some such thing.
DeleteI mean first becomes last etc.
DeleteThank you Vasant & KKR for clarification reg. 'Fling'. I knew it had to be Fling, but was baffled.
ReplyDeleteI got EVIL/ VILE right.
