      I agree,
      We may call it a mini theme.
      You must have noticed how in my regular full-fledged thematic crosswords there might even be a dozen related words.
      Here while filling in, I might have seen the possibility of a thematic and just inserted it.

      +1. Came across it in downtown abbey. I didn't look dictionary but I thght it meant raw spirit, not tamed by society norms.

    excellent puzzles.. grid man rocked today by introducing new words. 14A...CRAWL type equipment we are using in pipeline. it moves very slowly.
