  1. 20A IMO is O+VAL(-e), Vale is also synonymous with valley (area between hills). "Cut" usually refers to only removing the last letter.

    1. Wordsworth's poem uses this short form of valley:
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

    2. The poem has oft been quoted here including the one in hand-written original folio.

  2. Quite a few new words for me today - PUEBLO, VIBRATO, HIGHERER, HOGBACK.
    FIGLEAF and EACH were favourites.
    Thanks Gridman.

  3. Add to Ramki's list Shroff as a banker. Though have come across many Shroffs(including the movie star Jackie and his son), never knew them as Bankers. Some cracking clues including the rebus All in a heap. Though a bit on the tough side, Gridman is as entertaining as ever.

  4. This was a fun and enjoyable one. Even when I did not biff the answer, or not get the annotation, the clues were aesthetically pleasing.

  5. Nothing to grind the teeth in today’s Gridman. Only to grin and chuckle.

Walt Whitman is one of my favorite poets. Reading him got me glued to the seat for many a happy moment in the USIS library in Marine Lines in Bombay. Happy memories evoked . Thanks Gridman.
