ReplyDelete26A should be agnate, not agante.
ReplyDelete+1
Delete22D- Why is it Billions instead of just billion?
ReplyDeleteFor the simple reason that our politicians are very rich Paddy and it's election season here in Bangalore!
DeleteIt pours as a gentle (?) rain from atop vans!!
DeleteJust because some of us are ready to help!
DeleteI liked the fish hunter in 13A.
ReplyDelete19D- Would "My going around a lake" have been better? Cryptically better without affecting the surface.
ReplyDeleteYes Paddy. Originally I had written "Essentially walk wearing my footwear", but for some reason
ReplyDeletechanged it at the last minute.
Thank you Arden. Original is by far the best.
ReplyDeleteI think 5A is "ARELIGIOUS" and the space between them is wrong.
ReplyDeleteI think Irreligious is the word and not areligious.
ReplyDeleteareligious /eɪrɪˈlɪdʒəs/ ♫
Delete▶ adjective not influenced by or practising
- the above from OED
Thank you. I did not check OED
DeleteSome new words today (at least, for me). Abutilon. Agnate.
ReplyDeleteThe "gosh" for "my" also took a while to click.
Nice one, Arden :-)
12A: I interpreted the clue as
ReplyDeleteDef = not daytime
number = EIGHT
Starting off by 90 degrees -> E becomes N (East becomes North by turning 90 degrees)!
Over-analysing lol!
That's what I meant
DeleteGreat clue and solve by the champion
DeleteQuite a few new words for me - ANCHUSA, CHARLOTTE RUSSE, CIABATTA etc. ALLOT was my COD
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Russe is worth knowing. Col. has given it a delicious look.
ReplyDeleteGood puzzle. Was able to finish it with Google help. So many new words learnt in the process. The approach of climbing anagramm-ing relatively obscure words is something I really like. Thanks Arden. Now back to work after this 1 hour THC break
ReplyDeletecould not solve 5A. outstanding word play by Arden. Many new words today's CW. BELEAGUER, ARCANE and few had good lesson learned.
