I would have felt happier with some indication about so many proper names. I understand it is the theme but until one gets the theme. Proper names are rare unless they are celebrities ( But cricketers are more than celebrities!!)
There were such starred/themed puzzles in the past in The Hindu on colours, festivals, scientists, cricketers too with the note: All * clues have something in common.
