ReplyDeleteNative Indians in US are referred as Brave.
DeleteSailing down river DANUBE.
ReplyDeleteA glass of BLOODY MARY and some KARACHI biscuits from Hyderabad on the table. No DEMONIC feelings. Vladimir looked all relaxed.
Now CLOISTERED he felt happy for having TAKEN A POWDER the other day in Times Square.
By and by he sees a DRONE hovering over the Steamer.
What happened next?
Look for the drone!
Delete7A-Fe is iron. I suppose 'taken separately' is an indication to split- Fe w are. Good one.
ReplyDeleteArden used the trick few times now.
Delete6D- River changes from 'flower' to 'banker'!!
ReplyDelete13D- rare as bloody is something new to me.
ReplyDeleteAt 70+ facing bloody rare words. Oh 'English' what a language you are !
DeleteWhen ordering a steak in a restaurant, it is customary to specify how it must be cooked. Options are: RARE (bloody, cooked for the shortest time), MEDIUM, WELL (cooked extra, less juicy) and also "medium-rare" and "medium-well".
DeleteAdd 10 for me!

DeleteA fine grid by Arden. DRONE as "air-carrier" and DANUBE as "banker" were fantastic. Other clues that I enjoyed were BLATHER ("first buds then suds"), BABYLON ("issue exposed along"), GIVE OR TAKE ("trade approximately) and ACTS UP ("law on drink").
ReplyDeleteNERVINE and TAKE A POWDER were new usages for me. 7A IRONWARE had me stumped until I read the comments on this page.
I have come across BLOODY as "rare", but never thought of BLOODY MARY as a/the "spirit", rather it is a cocktail with one part of it being Vodka, which is a spirit, and other parts including tomato juice, celery and even bacon which are not spirits.
In 20D FACILE,150 as IL was on the border of unfair. In roman numerals, 150 would translate to CL. To make 150 IL it should be indicated to take the numbers separately similar to 7A. Thankfully 150 would never translate to IV0 as there is not zero in roman numerals.

DeleteNice grid Arden. Loved
