  2. I could have sworn that 25A was a repeat clue from a recent edition of the same puzzle. It makes sense given that the puzzle is themed to honour various setters and that two of the setters are called Alan. It is also an extremely good clue and was enjoyable to solve again.

    For 14A I totally missed the anagram but was able to solve the clue using the superb &lit definition and crossings.

    In 2D, how does "Blue" work as a definition of EARTHY?

    3D WATER POLO was my favourite clue of the grid. My least favourite were 18A and 21A, whose surface readings had to be picked apart like spaghetti.
