  1. Is it because Incognito, you have not given it in the title?

  2. All EYES were on Vladimir and his IMPALA car as he arrived in the COURT along with his AGENT.

He explained his INTENT and clarified that he had TIDIED the mess ABROAD (i.e. in Mumbai).

"I am willing to OBEY your order"

Did the court INITIATE proceedings against him?

    What happened next?

  5. I had an optical illusion while reading the clue for 5D. I read it as ending in Gas plant instead of 'Gals pant' and wondering why the solution is given straightaway!

    1. American-, and British-English, the solfège syllables are DO, RE, MI, FA, SO, LA, TI, DO. If you listen to the Rodgers and Hammerstein song DO-RE-MI from The Sound of Music, you will notice the lyric for the 7th note is Tea- a drink with jam and bread. - curtsey Google

    2. the clue 28a. anno.for note-TI not correlated to music. def. is cleaning.

    3. Note: - TI(musical note)
      Departed - DIED
      cleaned up(def) - (TI)(DIED)

    4. Thanks . Pilla. quite tough to get the clue & anno. Almost got it. still my point is abbreviation of TI. Take note or some thing else.

    5. From chambers
te or ti noun (tes or tis) music in sol-fa notation: the seventh note of the major scale.
      Si was replaced with te/ti

    6. Thank you Sree_sree sir.....it's about musical notes. Acc. to the notes 'TI' matches with word play.

  7. From my checking, I got the idea that piers are sometimes called moles. But moles (secret agents) are not called piers.

    2. I should've put them separately - secret agent - mole & pier - mole

    3. Mole:
a large solid structure on a shore serving as a pier, breakwater, or causeway.

  8. I enjoyed some of the charades such as 15A {AB}{ROAD}, 32A {OBE}{Y} and "boy wearing spectacles" for {OBO} in 27A. 5D was hardly cryptic. 6D had me thinking about snakes & LADDERs, a game in which the board looked somewhat like a crossword grid. Quoting from Wikipedia: The name "corundum" is derived from the Tamil-Dravidian word kurundam (ruby-sapphire) (appearing in Sanskrit as kuruvinda).

The word "small" could have been deleted from 20D, leaving the clue technically correct. As a DD, one of the definitions in 25D was "where the camper" which isn't grammatically correct, although if you read the clue as CD&lit it works.

    1. 20D- small is meant to get op from operation.

      Delete
    2. My point is that OP is already an abbreviation for "operation".

      Delete
    3. I think 'small' adds to the difficulty of the clue. Without it, the clue becomes easier than it is.
