  5. Make it complete-

Again no def. Parsing is complete only when def.is given. Follow Col.'s main post.

  7. Incognito favours this grid design, which contains nearly the maximum number of black squares (36% or 81/225 squares) but paradoxically also yields a large number of clues (32), many of them short in the 4- or 5- letter range. The breakdown of clues is as follows.
    ---
    Charade 15
    Anagram 12
    Double Definition 3
    Deletion 1
    Reversal 1
    ---
Of course, some clues contain elements of multiple clue types, such as anagram + charade for certain letters. There were some clues that contained partial acrostic elements.

Overall it was a typically easy experience from Incognito, barring some instances of the directional "in" link-word. I had got 10A incorrect through some strange logic, which landed me in trouble in the top-right corner. I thought 12A was delightful and well-thought out - it is my candidate for clue-of-the-day.

    1. Hats off to you for this analytical study on the utility of squares in the CW grid. Indeed, this must have consumed a good chunk of your time.
In fact, similar to every player in the sports arena banking on his or her favourite shot, flick, kick, stance as the trump card, each of the select 'team' of CW setters can boast of own traits. So muck so they are exclusive by their own yardsticks, a-la none of the spotted & striped feline beauties - leopards and tigers are identical in any manner!!!

  33. While on the subject of dentists and root canal, a joke that I recently read (hopefully not in our blog). Doctors here to excuse me-
A patient is sitting in dentist's chair after completing his root canal treatment and the doctor gives him the bill. He looks aghast and says," Doctor, T think there is some mistake here. You had said root canal but you have given me the bill for the Suez canal!!"
