DeleteShiva is a mourning period for jews, I think it means seven in hebrew
Delete2a. Can anyone explain what's used for detectives. It's CIDS.right. drones are bees. How the solution besides comes .
ReplyDeleteDI's are Detective Inspectors.
DeleteSorry. Usual notation for detectives are cids in regular parlance. Still that s instead of c there bogs.

How do you account for the SO? In any case your answer is also wrong?
Delete23A. Aren't dungarees and jeans two different types of garments altogether?
ReplyDeleteDungarees are often made from Denim fabric. That is the connection with Jeans. Otherwise they are different

Even though I got solutions for a few I was having lot of self doubt till I visited this blog to confirm same. Sorry! It is not my day!

ReplyDelete7d, Spelling for robbery ('dacoity') is dakoiti. Not found in Chambers. May clarify please. If it is Desi, should it not be qualified?
ReplyDeleteIt is in Chambers. Dacoit or Dakoit. And Dacoity, dakoiti or dacoitage (adj).
DeleteColonel, 26A is corrected in the online version. It now ready as "Short story in paper upset candidate seeking a job, for instance (7)". May correct
ReplyDeleteIt is correct in the print version.
ReplyDeleteNo. Short is missing.
Delete1d typo Iraqis!
ReplyDeleteBlogger is having an issue in adding links, changing colours of the text plus highlighting, due to which there may be delays in the post in the mornings as it takes more time in preparing the blog.
ReplyDeleteThe issue seems to be with latest chrome update, most probably the referesh rate.
DeleteSo the idea is to trick chrome.
Like select the text and instead of directly going to color palate, move the cursor around (out of section, but thats too tecnical), you would notice cursor blink. Then select the color palate.
Same with adding links.
Select the text you want the text to link then let it hover for sometime (a second or 2) and them click the hyper link button.

DeleteThis page has a video explaining the step.
Thanks Prasad that helps. This was not there when I searched these pages when the issue started

ReplyDeleteMale reproductive organ's pet name(6)
A bit tough but I finished. Some doubts though.
ReplyDeleteIn 23ac - what's the role of tailor & adapted. Cheap is dung + (saree)*
In 10a - what is the role of release?
Smoothen is slicken - not smooth no?
In 17ac - Host is crush?
Release:slacken
DeleteSmooth:transitive verb means "to (make) smooth":smoothen
But agree smooth is very local dialect for british. THC should have hint.
Host/crush:mob/crowd/horde
DeleteCrush : CROWD, MOB
especially : a crowd of people pressing against one another
Thanx. I thought SLACKEN was reduce acceleration (slow down). Now realise that's for removing a.
DeleteSome v nice clues though.
ReplyDeleteMy fav - SUCCESS, A THICK EAR, NOSERAG, APPLIER.
Thanx Avtaar.
Too tough from Avtaar today. Added to that I had my rye test done which added to the difficulty. Could get only half of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat is rye test?
ReplyDeleteU mean eye test?
Take care.
