ReplyDeleteThanks corrected
DeleteI thought off was the anagrind
DeleteNamesake = fodder
ask to go = remove A S K
off = anagrind to get ENEMA
Both clyster and "a purge" are definitions - only one is required right? Was wondering about that.
Is it a,DD?
DeleteCluster is one def. and "namesake....purge" being the other. Purge for removing ask and off as anind
Delete27a sue also means follow
ReplyDeleteNot used in that sense here.

ReplyDeleteAgree Paddy. Solving cryptic puzzles these days is like "open book" exam. One has to get the basics right - annotations play a key part. However, mobile phones, searches, dictionary etc are there to help us solve the puzzle. Blog is a massive help to novices. Also comments made so often by you, Sree sree and other regulars bring in a lot of clarity.
ReplyDeleteAgain a typical Arden Puzzle.
ReplyDeleteMy fav -
HANGERS ON, YEARNED, EYESIGHT, PEDAL.
