I failed to fit in and struggled in the corner. It happens when we try to fit in an Indian word in English.
    Elijah was not helpful either!

  5. 23D: Pliers refers to tool, while Plier refers to a person who plies the trade.

    1. Pliers itself is tool not tools ( no plural). I think this is what his meant as comment.

  12. Clue for PLIERS - I agree that PLIERS is used for a tool (in the singular form). But the plural form is also "pliers" (like pants, trousers, scissors etc.) So I think "tools" as a def is okay, though "tool" would have been better.

  13. Clue for 1 down has a typo - should have "hoarded" and not "boarded" as the containment indicator. I have requested them to correct it online.

    1. But after checking, I see that board also may work.
      "board" also means "accommodate"
From Chambers, one of the meanings is
to provide someone with accommodation and meals in return for payment.
So "A boarded by B" can mean B around A

    2. Though "copy boarded by author" makes less sense than "copy hoarded" in the surface reading!
