The bouncer and the dancer - Part 73

To MARKET, to market, to buy a fat pig!

A greedy MEMBER of Parliament was told that money was flowing in the two nightclubs in Shangri-la.

Two money spinners! His INVESTOR PASSION was ignited with this news. He was keen in any ACCRUAL which paid rich DIVIDENDS. Two  BLUE CHIPS in one stone! "Let me OBTAIN both and have two more milch cows".

He had enough NUMBER two and as usual decided  to buy Incognito. The exchequer owed him money for two FDI deals he had negotiated and he could make good use of the money.

During TEA BREAK the politician was sitting SNUG in his easy chair sipping his LIMEADE.  The BROKER sent by him came in and gave him the news:

"But they are not willing to SELL, Sir."

This IRRITATED the politician.  TWANG. He banged his ASH TRAY on the table and was in a mood to throw it at the broker. But this not so SCARCE behavior of the politician did not bother the broker.

" Of course they wont sell you fool. Who asked you to PLEA? I said "I want to buy. Understand?"  I will send my side-kick. He will butt in with you and help you. Rest your butts and don't move till they agree."

(He KNEELS before God and thanks Him for giving "ACHHE DIN".) He called his black cat and asked him to get ready 108 coconuts..

The politician ( the white tiger ) also wanted to kill the fatted calf.

What happened next? It is left to your imagination...

  3. 19 across: This is a classic clue with double entendre ! But, BUTT gets battered ! N+UMBER is a good example- as mostly amber is known than umber .

EIDITIC is a new word to be added to my glossary.

Thanks, Kishore. You clues are so simple yet difficult and hence a good start for beginners in cryptic crosswords.

    3. Yes, Col. Sorry about the number. CDRGANI must have had doubt about 25DN only. 26AC shouldn't be difficult to interpret your explanation.

    4. He must have found the Number clue a little difficult to parse and so did I for a while.
Clue No.25, for example- is a NUMBER- N(UMBER), Umber being a colour.

    3. "Place to rest your butt"- ashtray is one meaning. Reading more into it is reader's privilege! (Beauty is in the eye of the beholder) Writer may as well say,"Is it so?" (knowing Kishore as we do!)

    4. Butter / Ram we have come across several times. While on butter we should recall that Dean Martin was not only an actor but a very good singer too. You may like to watch his super-duper hit song of yesteryears: Buttercup A Golden Hair

    5. There's nothing risque about butt which the compiler meant to be a cigarette butt but butt also means one's derriรจre which is euphemistically meaning one's buttocks. Better than ASS or A--e ! Either Butt can be rested, one on a surg=face and another in an ashtray. cryptic cluing at its best , but. Whoever thought otherwise should be given a best in the butt. ! I better stom buttering the compiler's prowess. What say, Kishore ?

  9. After the crossword is solved (on a scale of 1 to 10, it is around 3 for XChequer and 9 to 10 for Incognito with the rest falling inbetween) I have to look up for the rest.
I feel I am like Vasant ( Vasant the super detective in Sujatha's novels).
A little while later I am like our Vasant singing:
"Yeh kya hua kaise hua kab hua kyun hua jab hua tab hua
O chhodo yeh na socho "

  11. Did someone say "BALLS?"
Yes Sir. The solutions are like Crystal balls.
Cricket ball - you can hit it.
Hockey ball - you can push it.
Football - you can kick it.
Golf ball - you can even lose it and not bother.
Throw ball - you can throw it.
Bowling? - you can roll it.
But Crystal balls? You have to keep gazing.
What wealth will the show bring?
If I am inspired the story will continue.
    Otherwise it is prespiration.
    Just beat about the bush.
And then again like our Vasant:
"Phir kya hua? Yeh na poocho!!!!"
