Today being Friday only the blank clues will be posted. All those who are not regular commenters but who are rookie commenters or silent followers of the blog are requested to post answers with annotations in the comments section. In your own interest please avoid looking up the answers from the interactive version. Don't hesitate to post your annotations, in case you make a mistake someone will correct it with the right annotation.

Each commenter is requested to post only 5 answers till 2 PM thereby giving others also a chance to participate. Please provide all your answers in one comment.

The regular blog will replace the clues at 2 PM after which anyone is free to comment.

Thanks for the response. Here's the regular blog.

The bouncer and the dancer - Part 74

Clement had his own set of CREDOS.  He was not bothered about the BLACK HOLE in a tunnel. He went after the light at the end of the tunnel. His business IDIOM?
Stay ahead of the pack!

He wanted to stay one step ahead of the Gemini School of Dance. He did his MATH. To increase the collections he had to go in for renovation and additions! He should increase the CHARM of his night club and make it a place of EMINENCE. He was not bothered about the DRAIN  on his finances. He had enough and more.

He wanted to TRY OUT  a completely new DECOR.

One Stephen who was HAWKING at the end of the road was rehabilitated and given a shop in the new SHOWROOMS which he added on one side.

Pole dancing was an addition. And so was the REVERB. And many more. The CREATION of a pro from CAMBRIDGE.

After the LODGINGS too being renovated the whole place now looked like a PALACE,

What happened next?

I solved 9 clues. Found them relatively easy. Would love to see the annotation of 1A which I couldn't get.

    6. +1 to Vasant.
      Prasad,
You seem to have ignored the principle of anagram. When a word is intended as anagram for solving, that word must appear there [like ROOMS here]. It would have been fine if moors was used rather than secures.
I hope you agree with me

    7. on any principle, I have no clue of. i take it as given by members on this site. this site is my only guru. My curiosity is more in understanding setter's mind in setting the clue. could this be the way the setter thought the clue would work. right or wrong I am not competent to venture, yet.

  38. 23a: Annotation is having an extra 'E'.
Since 'came' is already having one 'E', I think, we should not go for another 'E' from 'English' is not required. Definition seems to be 'English town'.

  43. Apologies for the erroneous clue in 15D. In the original version, I had “somehow moors”. Then I somehow dropped “somehow” and changed “moors” to “secures” for surface, resulting in a completely messed up clue.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Adding to the highlighted theme, I chose the words from:

Particle creation by Blackholes (1975 paper by Hawking) whose effect is Hawking radiation

Hawking Penrose theorems that proved singularity in cosmos.

Cambridge, math and few others mostly fell from the crossings.

  45. Great! Thank you Lightning. Nice way to remember him. He wanted to take science to the common man.
The moment I got Hawking, I started looking for the Black Hole.
