ReplyDeleteCan you explain 6d? What is player & how do I get n in the end?
ReplyDeletePlayer is any of the four bridge players:North, South, East and West denoted by their initial letters. That's how youget N in the end. Partners can be NS or EW and opponents can be NE, NW, SE, SW.
DeleteOh! Thank you.
DeleteAlso 2d - everything possible perhaps - what does that mean?
ReplyDeleteFrom the expression "the whole nine yards" meaning everything.

ReplyDeletehttps://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/the+whole+nine+yards
ReplyDeleteInteresting to read about 'The Whole nine yards' in this link. It says tho origin of the phrase is unknown, but generally more used in U.S.! One possible explanation is tailor using up 9 yards of material in making a suit! Is it likely the phrase had originated in India as used by Spinner?!
Thanks for the concise explanations Vasant :)
