'Vendetta' by Marie Corelli was a popular novel read by youth in India.
ReplyDeleteI have read it when I was a youth!
ReplyDeleteThank you CV. Even after filling in 'Corelli' with the help of crossings,I could not connect to Marie and was wondering.
ReplyDelete... probably since I did not know she was an English author- name suggested an Italian connection.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Dictionary also gives Corelli as Italian violinist.
DeleteVery enjoyable puzzle. My COD Half The Battle.
ReplyDeleteMarie Corelli is one of my favorites and ranks very high amongst the classics. Her stories are laced with philosophy and language is impeccable. I have all her books are I’m collections. I believe for a time, her books were banned and available in the publishing industry as they were deemed to be anti- Establishment and my collections are from roadside second -hand vendors. Jaico publications paper backs. Any additional information from our friends are welcome.
ReplyDeleteThough I have a fairly good collection of books and I thought myself quite "well-read", have never read any of Marie Corelli's books. So, this puzzle has given me a new author to read.
ReplyDeleteDon't miss Vendetta.
ReplyDeleteI am a peace loving guy:-)
DeleteBut I won't.
Read in particular, Barabbas . Ziska, Secret power, Romance of two worlds. Thelma. The last one got me hooked on to her books. I love reading at one sitting.
