oh. Only today I came to know it can be spelled either guerilla or guerrilla !! It says (Gruel Ali) made. So, made is the anagrind. Where is the indication to include the 'r' from restistance into the anagram ?

In the actual final, the grid was not given to the participants - we had to cold-solve all the clues! One team did try to reverse-engineer the grid from the clues as they were getting solved :)
