    1. Oh and I was congratulating myself for cracking Arden so fast.

    2. I was wondering whether Arden's quota was increased!

  3. Printed edition credits the setter Incognito.

    1. Just wondering how that stamp looks - what the size, shape, design are.

    2. Like 1d. With incognito gaze vacantly would be moon. Arden took me to GE and many other variants which didn't fit and eventually come back to moon.

    3. Those who have been regularly solving for years can easily identify
      Incognito, Buzzer, Arden, xChequer,
      Gridman.
Others may not be this easy. Say whether the crossie is from Dr.X or Afterdark.
      Further comments welcome!

    4. Say, a Moon lander, Tomahawk for a simple T, linking Oakland & Kodaikanal...
I could only say this much, probably felt more while solving.

    5. By this time I think we can identify almost all setters by their cluing style. Dr. X would have a few puny DDs, AD will have no CDs etc

      Delete
    6. Also the grids. All the setters have their own grids from which we can identify them:XChequer & Sunnet work with 1 type of grid only.

    7. AD will have lots of additions,deletions- to which Raju may be allergic.

    8. Vasant is a specialist on grids.

    9. Not a Specialist but the grid also (in addition to the clue writing) fascinates me.

    10. Paddy, sometimes allergies can become addictions!
Otherwise, how do you explain the deletion/addition clue of Raju in the yesterday Sunday Special?

    2. Kalsri, there is no point giving an answer without attempting to annotate it. Your annotation may not be correct but one should try

  13. The Orator said that Jules Verne went under the sea, to the centre of the earth and around the world. Why, he even flew in a balloon. But he never spoke of a moonlander...
This guy who spoke ad infinitum was bitten by the travel bug. Wanting to pep up his dampened spirits he took a trip to Kodaikanal on Hogmanay.
There he wanted to see the stalagmite caves visited by his movie idol.
As he crossed the turnpike he was told that the odds of being bitten by a scorpion was high. Better carry some snake oil.
A teacher walking close by imposed himself and said (a) snake oil is not a cure for scorpion bite and (2) Guna caves are not stalagmites.
This did not astonish the orator. He had already googled....

  19. But times are such that you are spoilt for choices. Whether you do an Incognito in THC or an Oracle in 1Across. Of course you want to do both & more (perhaps a Balderdash in Sunday Special:-) )
