    14d technical doubt: I thought it is DD, one GK and one CD. Is it still CD

      It can not be DD as both definitions do not mean the same answer. The first part is straight and second part is cryptic.

      Actually, it is not always that one gets ill-treatment in government hospitals, especially when you carry ArogyaSree health cards.
      In fact, those patients are given royal treatment!

      Having spent a career in government hospitals I can tell you the poorest of poor gets treated in government hospitals,and considering the load,the doctors do a decent job.

      Thank you KKR & Prasad. I had actually filled in 'Diva' and had to change when crossings did not fit. I tagged the promote to lead singer- it is in the middle and can go either way. So is the def- either end. Hence my doubt.

    Quite a few doubts today:-
    9A hard on we is HOWE alltright. But what is VER?
    16A TAGALOG is ok with incognito as N but what is the indication in the clue?
    19A refuse means reversing the word DENY is it?
    2D "Fussing over fellow running for cover" would be enough?
    Request some expert's explanation.

    2D- You are partially right. Ramesh has indicated'him' as extraneous and makes as a connector (for surface reading) These are indicated by colour codes given at the bottom.
    BTW I am no expert,but given just by way of clarification- wise after reading the blog!

    Today's Guardian Prize Crossword is a Jigsaw one. Many easy clues. The real fun is in filling the grid. Enjoyed it. A very rare thing for me - solving the prize crossie; that too on Saturday itself.
