10D- Monday- (dynamo)*- Tomorrow perhaps. Since it was meant as a Sunday Special
4D- DE(LET)ED- Cancelled
Yeah had initially given this grid for a Sunday special, hence the definition was "tomorrow perhaps" :)
Delete12Ac ELEMENTAL - {LE}{MEN} in {TALE*}
ReplyDelete1A RENEGADE <=
ReplyDelete27A ERSATZ (T)
20D LOAN (~Lone)
Technical doubt: is the grid construction OK for standard 15*15.
ReplyDeleteOops, I believe the 3 unches above 29A and below 5A are technically not kosher wrt grid construction (if that's what you are also referring to)
DeleteYes. Saw response below.

Upset is anagrind, may be one needed a reversal indicator here.
DeletePerhaps upset (over turn) is reversal indicator and 'making' as anagram indicator?
DeleteThere is no anagram
DeleteYes, Prasad garu! Thank you.

5D ESTEEM
Delete{ES} {TEEM <=} (From the east = reversal indicator?)
Definition: Judge
Esteem can be fine tuned.
DeleteI had a sneaky feeling I was missing something...still confused though
DeleteSpain is E; reaches is MEETS; so E + meets <-- = esteem; meaning = judge
DeleteAh I'd thought it would have been convenient if Spain was E, and Spain is actually E, huh...thank you!
Delete30A CRUSADES (used cars)*
ReplyDeleteReplacement for 30A already solved
Delete6D START OVER (STAy - y)+ T in ROVER
Replacement for 15D=
ReplyDelete22D- Atwood- Poet- At(woo)d
Overall a smooth grid with nice surfaces and precise wordplay. Suggestions: 5A and 29A have 3 unches - makes it somewhat unfair if only 2/7 letters are crossing. General rule is at least half the entries must be lights. 29A - I think "with" doesn't work as a containment indicator. Don't think I got 11D
ReplyDelete+1 on with. Which is why I don't solve WPL! Grids yet.
Delete11d look at it as CD.
The crosswordunclued has example of this grid and if I remember correctly. ".....not carried by anywhere else but THC. (Those days a THC setter used a vehicle version of this grid
DeleteZodiac's 1st sunday special carried that grid)
Please read "vertical version".
DeleteThanks Sreeni; yes the unches was an oversight on my part - will avoid that error in future grids. I thought I saw "with" as an indicator in some source, but noted on your point
DeleteI also thought some of the clues and surfaces were well-constructed with a certain appeal of simplicity...thank you!
DeleteThank you Sreelakshmi :)
DeleteD from Duke. Court=Woo
ReplyDelete@ Prasad - is upset a legitimate reversal indicator?
ReplyDeleteOr is to both - angrind + revind
Can be used as anagrind OR reversal, but the latter only for a down clue. In this case it's a reversal indicator; there is no anagram in the clue
DeleteMan sounding high (dd)= Alto
ReplyDeleteFor 11d
DeleteIt's a CD. Male singer who sings high notes.
DeleteYes, was going for a CD with the pun on "high"
DeleteSorry, it is not dd, it is all in one clue.
ReplyDelete24a, full swing is dd
ReplyDeleteSolution = sheer
9A is still not solved. Awaiting.
ReplyDeleteSo also 29A and 26D
Delete29A- There was a discussion but solution was not given.
DeleteS(O)WING
26D- not yet done.
If you are not got it I will give the solution.
9A- Fat Man- name of bomb dropped on Hiroshima; (-B)(+F)AT MAN
ReplyDeleteGood solve Thank you. I did not get it. How could I miss fat man?!
DeleteNot replacement. Just F (-b)atman
DeleteThanks!
DeleteThanks for the special Kumaresh
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Col!
DeleteThank you Kumaresh & Col.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteWelcome! Hope you liked solving it!
DeleteSince 26 D is left undone, doing it for the sake of completion.
ReplyDeleteTotes (=bears)
Fixed= set, Costs regularly is OT.
Raised is the reversal indicator.
So, T(OT)ES)=<
A good clue.
Set ot <=
