  2. 26A: pennant is streamer.
Ship is steamer holding R becomes pennant and not pendant which refers to an ornament.

    1. I agree. But I understand pendant is an obsolete spelling for pennant. Where does R come From?

    2. The streamer rope with the weight attached is still called pendant in nautical terms.
      Model for R is still.

  3. 20D- Is it okay to have 'for' between off and new for removal of N (ew)
Clue seems to read ok without it.

    1. Its not direct removal of N.
Tearing-off is the deletion indicator for pages (pp).
      Clue is read as
DEF (if you) delete pp for N (then it is) coalition.

  5. Easy today by Arden standards. With some great clues. STREAMER seems to be an error.

@Prasad - 3dn WARCRIME + AN leading to CRIMEAN WAR is kosher? Definitely not elegant.

My fav - ARM TWISTING, VENDETTA, RED FACED, DEPLETE.
    Thanx Arden!
