GRID
Congrats Vasant on your attaining
ReplyDelete9th rank in 1across contest. Nice to know that you have set a grid there too.
Thanks Ram
Delete8d gas constant of ideal gas law.
ReplyDeleteR?
ReplyDeleteSee Prasad's comment @8:43.
DeleteR=Universal gas constant
Forgot my Physics or is it Chemistry?!
DeleteBoth!My daughter is in XIth class and she has got Thermodynamics & Gas laws in both Physics & Chemistry
DeleteI am not sure how it was when you studied. I first heard about Thermodynamics only in Engg.- not up to PUC level. But my grandson is studying it in XI std. in U.S.
DeleteWe didnt have Thermodynamics in school. Standard of education no doubt has gone up.Even the text books now are better with concepts better explained and problems graded from easy to tough.
DeleteThank you Vasant. Exactly what I wanted to find out- comparatively between then & now, between India and U.S.
DeleteVasant setting a grid in IXL? Wow! That is news to me. Then, he cannot participate- at least in that round. So, from a solver, he becomes a setter.
ReplyDeleteNot in IXL in FB group 1 Across.Col & CV Sir had also set in the Gridfest
DeleteOh! I missed he 1A part.
Delete15A- Is first highest or best?
ReplyDeleteNot much of complications today. Fairly straight forward.
8D- Longest clue, to my knowledge, even beating some of Exchequers. I was struggling with 'adam' for first man until the significance of 'In India' dawned on me.
Happy to have completed without any outside help. Umbrella was the last to open.
15A: He was first in the class. He got the highest marks.
DeleteThanks Vasant. Still I feel 'Best' would be more appropriate, though we can find a sort of explanation.
DeleteNice puzzle. Enjoyed solving it. Thanks AD
ReplyDelete++++ !! AFTERDARK in his elements !
DeleteAfter the series of the 1 Across competition, the THCC compilers seem to be an easier lot to deal with. Quite surprised that a few of our bloggers here are both compilers ans solvers there in the Face Book group. Feling good for myself that I feature amongst the first 15. Their qualifying terms were rather stringent and uncleaar to me as I found myself all-correct in a 12 out of 13 grids. A few clues there were great only to be marred by a few others that were of the ambiguous RMDC type. Congrats to all the setters and solvers.
Wonder why many in that Group do not partiipate in this blog.mHow to woo them over ?
Congrats Vasant. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sir
