ReplyDeleteI think it is: The Ones = He notes* ?
11A GRIEF = pain, ( sportswoman = GRAF + IE (that's) -A ) Steffi graf - tennis player
ReplyDelete10A- what is the significance of 'every' in the clue? It not only seems unnecessary, but also misleading.
DeleteI felt that "in disguise and inconspicuous" is the def
DeleteHow do you remove LS from BLISS? Every second unseen is every second letter deleted
DeleteAnswer is for Padmanabhan
DeleteThank you Raghu. I missed the removal of 'i'.
Delete12a S for strike?
ReplyDelete8 Aura of a character — with love invariably unconditional — magical primarily (9) E?F?U?I?M ()
ReplyDeleteaura = effluvium
a character = eff (f)
love = luv
invariably unconditional magic = i...u...m
+1.
DeleteTough clue. Word is unknown. Eff=f hard to figure. Love=luv though common in sms lingo pretty uncommon in cryptics
DeleteI agree Vasant. Too many variables to solve.
DeleteAs per dictionaries, F is EF ans plural of F is EFF
DeleteSadly, I didn't find effluvium as synonym for aura in dict. Effluvium is bad odour emanating from gases/waste.
DeleteIt is there in free dict
DeleteThanks Vasant. I saw it online.
DeleteBut Free dic. also gives this meaning-
Delete3. An impalpable emanation; an aura.
19d - Can 'each and every' be taken as all and all over be taken anagram indicator?
ReplyDeleteYes for each and every. but all over may indicate reversal only. Probably all out can
DeleteI took it that way. All over as snag ind.
DeleteVery nicely constructed cryptic clues, like WAPITI, NAVIGABLE, REPRIMAND and NONPLUS. EFFLUVIUM is normally used to mean emanating bad odour of gas or waste, which I am so disgusted with while passing through open sewages in Coimbatore, ugh !
ReplyDeleteOn that count, CBE reached global standards!
DeleteAre you in GRIEF over the EFFLUVIUM
ReplyDeleteIs it more INTENSIVE than from Cooum?
Better be wise
And ROBUSTLY ARISE
SORT it out through proper forum.
Are you hp RU = Raju Umamaheswar
ReplyDelete😁😁
DeleteCan " first time commentators " be repeaters too ?
ReplyDelete'First time commenters' was coined when someone commented about the term 'rookie'. Apart from that no restrictions on anyone commenting. Col. has explained this earlier except when in specials everyone's comments are restricted 2/3/4 as the case maybe.
DeleteThe words first time commenter and rookie is just being used to encourage all the silent followers to come out and make their presence known. You yourselves can decide when you want to be k own as a regular commenter rather than a first timer or a rookie
DeleteWhere is Vulcan ji? Long time no see
ReplyDeleteRavin' in vain v NIRAV ? He has left us Viran by AIR VN !
ReplyDeleteHe must have already changed his name to N RAVI or Arvin or erwin and has ran off to
IRAN or Nari. Modi has enough DIaMOnds in his name to safe his name !
👌👌👌
DeleteLot of reversals,additions,deleions,enjoyables......:-)
