22A Not up(part of upheld) - DOWN
ReplyDeleteheld - CAST
broken and sad(def) - DOWNCAST
Relook!
DeleteAbove anno fits the clue.
DeleteLet me see.
Not upheld = down.
But I can't find broken being a synonym of cast.
This is the only other possibility.
It's in plain sight, ardenism at new heights.
DeleteI am beginning to see other possibilities, but I will stick to my annotation. Will wait to see the alternatives.
Delete1 AC UNEASE -Nervousness in jUNE AS Expected (TT)
ReplyDelete15 AC HIDDEN AGENDA -Shady business perhaps (DD)

7D what is the anno? The answer is not correct.
DeleteInstead of 18D it should read as 18A.. Sorry for the typo error.
Delete6D what is the definition?
Delete18d incorrect

ReplyDeleteWager take a bet
Do from Advice? Not so convincing. But I see no other choices from the clue.
Alt.= Do we get 'Do' from 'Advice- take'?
+1. I took it as 'Advice- take'
DeleteWhat about advice?
DeleteNow I am convinced DO is from 'advice' only.
DeleteDO(advice) take WAGER(a bet).
Nope. Relook
DeleteClarify please.
DeleteDO(advice)WAGER(take a bet).
DeleteYou do drugs when you take drugs.
DeleteTake=do.
Advice is just setter having fun. (As in read it as an advise rather than charade! "Do wager")
Actually this clue has multiple ways of arriving at the answer. WIDOW = DOWAGER is the only constant.
Delete25a FIN(I)AL interest is I end is Final
ReplyDelete21a - realty; real (money) + ty (heartless they) . Def - Land, buildings
ReplyDelete24A definition may not be accurate.

ReplyDelete22a (not upheld) when broken (up) gives
ReplyDeleteNot up-down
Not held-thrown/cast
That's a wow!
DeleteAlternatively
Not up - DOWN
held(as in aimed) - CAST
broken and sad(or sad and broken) is a regular expression for DOWNCAST.
From Merriam-Webster.com
DeleteHELD as in to aim
to point or turn (something) toward a target or goal.
e.g. Held the camera on the actor throughout the scene

6D answered at @11:38, 'time' is the definition for FOURTH DIMENSION.
ReplyDeleteOnly 24 Ac left to be solved.
ReplyDelete... and a question mark on 11 Dn.
I request the admin to open the floor at 3pm or before.
ReplyDelete24AC is too tricky and challenging one. got the answer. but expereincing a tiny tewak in annotation. my fav.clue is 24ac............
ReplyDeletePlease explain. I mentioned it was flawed @12:21.
DeleteSilence is half agreement(in telugu for sure) especially in the FOURTH DIMENSION.
ReplyDelete24A Risk(BET) taking on(cont ind) race(RACE) fifty(L)
two(def?) - B(RACE)(L)ET
Grid is full with a couple of questions.
ReplyDelete24 Ac & 11 Dn have outstanding questions.
ReplyDelete24A-
ReplyDeleteI am not able to get any ref. which gives bracelet as two. Brace, yes but not bracelet. Nor have I come across in usage. Any suggestion?
(B(RACE)(L)ET)
Deleterisk - BET
on race - RACE
fifty-L
not getting the meaning for two
BRACE is definitely two, a pair.... Perhaps BRACELET is an Ardenism indicating that we should "LET" the setter get away with simply using a definition for "BRACE"😅
DeleteHa ha.
DeleteBracelet in its noun form is interchangeable with brace.
Buy don't think it trally can be used as two.
Solution has been published. Questions remain.
ReplyDeleteI mean the grid solution.
ReplyDeleteEasy by Arden standards.
ReplyDeleteSame doubts for BRACE LET
Advice - take a bet can translate to DO WAGER. I feel. Not split it as advice - do. But take it as a whole.
My fav - FOURTH DIMENSION, STATE DEPARTMENT, DOWNCAST (Rao's Anno).
Thank Arden!
Thanks @Gowri for saving me from being DOWNCAST😅
ReplyDeleteI think both annos work equally well for DOWNCAST.
DeleteNot held = Cast as in thrown
Held = Cast (The meaning I have in mind is how one would "cast" a broken arm, where it's "held" in place)
