  1. For once, it seemed a long wait to 8.30. If it was fast yesterday, it was a dash today.
Got Twenty thousand Leagues under the sea, but did not Journey to the Centre of Earth. Both good classics. Lots of water all around from the pond (read ocean) to the well.

  2. For a long time, I was thinking about dogs for canines. Neatly done.
That and the pond were the last to fall (though I liked the expression 'across the pond)

  4. A bookseller who sold HISTORY books and fiction like TWENTY THOSAND LEAGUES under the sea, YEAR books and books to prepare you for the EXAM was in a low in business.
Booksellers with common INTERST UNITED and held discussions and SKETCHED a plan.
The HEADMAN said: Our business should not sink in POND, LAKE, STREAM or OCEAN. Let us not undercut. UNITED we shall stand."
These words sounded a good OMEN.
    They ADEPTLY rescued themselves.

  7. Solvers may speculate on the strategic mistake I committed when deciding the themes for this puzzle. The mistake arose due to my faulty memory. It has no impact on solving the puzzle.

    2. Author of both the classics was Jules Verne. You probably meant it to be Wells (H.G.)

    3. Perfect, Paddy. Wells was supposed to be the common word between the two theme.

    4. I too was wondering why Wells was in the CW

  8. Yeaterday, you said 'wait till tomorrow' when we were searching for a theme. What you probably meant was that we will have 2 in 1 today.

    1. Well(s)... it is not a mistake really. Let us put it as another clue not connected to the theme.

  10. Shouldn't there be an indicator to imply Jacob=Israel?

THe Me in Incognito is revealing ?! Subtle egotism?
