Tomorrow onwards I will publish the clues for The Sunday Crossword at 7 AM like I do on Fridays for community solving by anyone (3 solutions each). The post will be updated with solutions at 4 PM.
ReplyDeleteIf I receive any Sunday special for publication I will publish that at 4 PM only instead of 10:30 AM
4 pm is a welcome change

DeleteThat I will do
Delete1A- 'To act in movies' to an actor's name. I did not get the connection.
ReplyDelete+1. Probably, if Perhaps was in the beginning, may be clue may lead to actor!
DeleteSathia
Look at it as semi&litt. With fund as "foot the bill" and not provide for/invest.
DeleteI have included "him" in the definition. Not sure if it is intended as Semi &lit.
DeleteIs 'him' part of def & anagram fodder. Or is it instruction to us (fans!) to find him?
DeleteLoved the "Joint holders"!!!
ReplyDelete+1
Delete3D- Fashion( as Anind) fits in nicely with the surface!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that works as anagrind only in imperative form. Not sure if Arden ji used it as nounal anagrind .
DeleteIf so it should precede fodder
DeleteIf used in imperative form!
DeleteFashion can be a verb as well- as in you fashion (design) something. "Fashioned after...." is also used.
DeleteBut it’s not an intransitive verb . So only works (in base form fashion) if it is used before the fodder
DeleteThat's what Nair says. It's an imperative verb!!!
Deletemmmm.... too technical for me (though correct)
ReplyDeleteFor me, the surface looked nice.
Primarily, fashion is a Transitive verb( it takes an object). It is an imperative verb too( that comes like a commander at the beginning to order, warn, advice or instruct still).
ReplyDeleteFashion a new clue to cater to the growing needs of crossword solvers.
In 3D, Everyone's taken in by latest fashion( here fashion is a Noun, latest - as it qualifies fashion, is an adjective)it is not used as a verb.
ReplyDeleteI have a print edition of Chambers CW dictionary 2006 and fashion is listed in the anagram indicators. But you know better about positioning it in the clue.
