      8D, Amidship(s) is the central, mid part of a ship or Air craft.
      I thought this way:
      Centre (mid) +a+ ship(vessels)
      =AMIDSHIP
      Raised joint suggests that 'a' should come first.
      Even, 'thick raised' could mean
      plaques, bumps, or scars that are elevated above the skin's surface.
