    1. Is it needed? Deletion of 'stop'- does it have to be continuous? I thought it could be in any order without the need of Anind.

    2. Double anind or single is setters choice
Double anind was rule of yore until itvwas reasoned (here!) That anind on wordplay , one of the anagrams could always lead def+(second)fodder.
Like here one of the angrams of
(Slept aeound) would be launderstop and then we delete stop.
I am with the first one, anind should be applied to final fodder after deletion.

  2. 25A- I had my doubts about tactile since I could not justify tile from hat. On checking, Free Dic. says it us an old British usage.

  6. 10A. Confines= Ambit ?. Any dictionary to refer to...

  7. Usage. Confine is to restrict or keep within range.
Ambit is scope/ range. Free Dic.says archaic meaning is an external boundary.

  8. I used anagram generator for 5d. It gave me "shaped tomatoes" !! I thought it is also a side dish and I was trying to fit in other clues based on this !!

  9. It may work only for single words, but not phrases like this. You will have to get a few crossings at least to be able to make out. Short cuts never work.
    Mashed potatoes is very common.

    1. Of course, not from Indian point of view. We can make better stuff with potatoes than just mash them!!

  10. Really enjoyed today's puzzle. While I got all answers, could not parse MAO, RILL (5A) HEN (3D). CELLARET was a new word for me which was a parsing based guess!! Good puzzle Arden.
