      Member is M in Chambers. MP is Member of Parliament.

      Probably reread the clue as "Sign above the doorway fourth".
      We used to get such clues by Arden where we had to rewrite the clue in 'Prose order' as I would like to call it!

      Hi, the sign above fourth doorway would be Entrance D, just as sign above first , second doorway would be Entrance A, Entrance B and so on.

    I'd a few doubts.
    1dn - PREGNANT is club?
    12ac - RIG is massage?
    Sweetheart need not be GIRL. A bit stretched?
    15dn - Member is M or MP. So what's the role of President?
    Can someone clarify.

      Hi Gowri all your queries can be solved by opening the Chambers dictionary BRB.
      'In the club' means pregnant.
      Yes rig means massage. The government has massaged/rigged the numbers to make them appear good. Read the different meanings of massage.
      I keep reading this 'stretched' stuff here. I am sorry but if you are not aware of it, it does not mean it is 'stretched'. Open BRB Chambers Dictionary and read the entry. Here are example sentences. I have to look good for my girl/sweetheart. Cadets were taking their girls/sweethearts to the ball.
      Col has given the anno perfectly. (CO+M+LICIT) around P. Don't quite see what is the issue.
