    2. Hmmm . . . .
      I found some things really interesting while setting this puzzle.
      Obviously, the first thing that entered the grid was 22d. And then, something else happened, and then something else happened, and then the concept-sort-of-theme emerged. And then towards the end, while setting clues, two of the themed characters came together and sort of closed a loop.

      But what is Colonel's rule for this blog?
      I allowed myself to put numerals in my puzzle, and I quite liked it.
